Deutsche Post DHL Group announced on March 21 that it would reduce all logistics-related emissions to zero by 2050. The commitment of Deutsche Post DHL will make an important contribution to the achievement of these sustainable development goals. Deutsche Post DHL also wants to be a market leader in green logistics and plans to expand its green portfolio of products and services to help customers achieve their own climate protection goals. Deutsche Post DHL to 2050 to achieve zero emissions target for the company's own logistics activities and its suppliers activities. To achieve this ambitious goal, the Deutsche Postgger GoGreen project includes four medium-term goals, planned to be achieved in 2025.
First, at the global level, the carbon efficiency of its own and its suppliers' logistics activities is increased by 50% (based on 2007 levels); and second, at the local level, through the use of clean energy transport to enhance and improve people's lives and working conditions. The "first kilometer" and "last kilometer" of the dispatch service will be carried out mainly in green, for example, using bicycles and electric cars, which will reach 70% in 2025. Thirdly, more than 50% of sales will be combined with green Solutions to help customers achieve a more environmentally friendly supply chain; Fourth, by 2025, 80% of the Group's employees will be trained and certified as GoGreen project experts, so that they actively participate in environmental and climate protection activities. The group also plans to grow one million trees a year with its partners.
At the same time, Deutsche Post DHL uses its environmental protection program, GoGreen, to support the United Nations "Sustainable Development Agenda 2030". This agenda creates the foundation for global economic progress that harmonizes with social justice within the limits of the Earth's ecology. The Group's climate protection measures promote the United Nations sustainable development goals, in particular Goal 11 ("Sustainable Cities and Communities") and Goal 13 ("Climate Action").
Thanks to years of experience with the GoGreen project, Deutsche Post DHS has developed a 2050 zero-emission program. Before the Group developed the GoGreen project, that is, by 2020, the Group will raise carbon efficiency by 30% (based on 2007 levels) has been achieved in 2016. This goal is achieved four years in advance, thanks to the transport fleet, facilities and logistics network of various optimization measures.
Deutsche Post DHL's Environmental Protection Project GoGreen is based on two basic principles: "Reducing energy consumption and clean energy". The "energy reduction" approach refers to measures that reduce consumption, such as increased load capacity, without changing energy. "Clean energy" focuses on the use of green energy sources and fuels, such as the use of electric vehicles. Combine these two principles to achieve the best results.
